This forever home was built to perfectly fit the lifestyle of this busy, close-knit family. A modern yet timeless new build that’s easily connected with the outdoors - and perfect for both pool parties and smooth-running family life.

THE BRIEF

Designed for relaxing and entertaining, the client’s brief was to create a warm and inviting feel throughout their home - a contemporary take on timeless, lasting design. A busy family with three teenagers, they sought our help to bring their ideas to life. Our first task was to create an overall vision and style direction for the interiors to ensure that there was continuity of style throughout the sprawling home. We then sourced finishes, furniture and furnishings to create a warm, modern aesthetic, with timeless appeal. 

COLLABORATORS

The home was designed by Creative Arch, inspired by French provincial and barn styles. The beautiful sprawling kitchen and contemporary bathrooms were design by the team at Yellow Fox. The extensive landscape planting was impressively completed by the owners.

INSPIRATION

We created a contemporary take on timeless, lasting design, adding to a palette of existing materials, with colours inspired by the amazing views of native greenery which surround this home. Fern greens, punga trunks, rusty lichens and rough bark translate to warmly textured timbered floors, rich greens, black accents, all layered against crisp whites.  

DESIGN DETAILS

We specified a full selection of custom furniture, using locally-crafted pieces wherever possible - a favourite piece being the bespoke dining room table made from oak panels templated from the flooring at the Palace of Versailles. Fabrics were chosen that are both stylish and super functional for family life, while linen-look window treatments work to soften the strong architectural lines of the home - and filter the sunshine streaming in the generous windows. The bedrooms were spaces where the individual personalities of each family member are reflected - from soft and feminine to a hunting lodge feel. Every detail was designed with care, specifically for our clients.

INSIDE EDGE

For a sizeable home, this project ran extremely smoothly. We shared a clear vision with the client which guided all our decision making along the way. And we had an amazing team of skilled craftspeople to make the bespoke pieces, ensuring this home has it's own unique personality and style. 

THE RESULT

The finished home has loads of warmth, charm and functional style. The spaces are beautiful but liveable for every member of the family - and a place where memories are made daily.
