hot 5 nz designed and made
Featuring New Zealand designed and made product is a big part of our ethos at KFD Interiors.
And supporting our New Zealand makers has never been more important. As we appreciate our homes as sanctuaries like never before, we are seeking quality, longevity, design flair and a sense of connectedness with the pieces we purchase for our home. Our flirtation with cheaper, disposable fashion and furnishings has waned.
We are passionate about New Zealand brands who design for our unique antipodean lifestyle, with locally sourced materials and proudly make their pieces here in New Zealand. We love their design-forward style, crafted to last a lifetime and beyond.
Read on for our hot 5 of New Zealand designed and made.
Bowie Chair
By David Shaw
We love the modern, contemporary design of David Shaw’s Bowie, with its raw architectural steel frame. Like the man himself, Bowie is a piece of art from every angle. He creates the wow factor in any room, in simpler textured weaves, in leather or in a knock out print like the iconic Grapphito by Kelly Wearstler.
Elton Sofa
By Kovacs
Yes, we are in love with Elton by Kovacs Furniture. Lovingly designed and handmade here in New Zealand, the curves and craftsmanship are perfection. And the comfort of this piece is next level too. Perfect for every at-home cocktail lounge - or everyday living room.
Pill Ottoman
By Zanders & Co
We super proud to say we helped design this piece with Zanders & Co. We think it’s perfect for a multitude of spaces. An entrance for dropping a handbag and keys. At the end of your bed. As a coffee table / foot rest, with a tray on top. In fact, every home needs one!
Rae West Art
Local artist
Rae is a Hawkes Bay artist who creates stunning, lustrous, large scale, abstract art works with liquid resin and inks. Her oversized circular pieces are referred to as “watercolours on steroids”. An occupational hazard is that I totally fall in lust with pieces like this!
Paperhands Wallpaper
Handmade locally
Helen and Ben make wallpaper, by hand, in their studio in Martinborough. They create prints and designs that are unique, meaningful and rare - and lucky for us, inspired by the flora and fauna of New Zealand, creating designs that resonate with our sense of place.
