why custom made really is better

As we appreciate our homes as sanctuaries like never before, we are seeking quality, longevity, uniqueness, design flair and a sense of connectedness with the pieces we purchase for our home.  More than ever, we are finding that custom made really is better!

SUPERIOR QUALITY

Custom pieces are made by hand by master craftsmen, who will pay special attend to every detail of your special piece.  The resulting quality will almost always be higher than mass-produced, imported furniture.  The quality will ensure the piece will be enjoyed for many, many years to come.

THE RIGHT SIZE

With custom furniture you get precisely the right sized piece for your space.  Particularly important with living rooms, custom sofas and chairs can ensure maximum seating in a space, while still allow flow and “air” in a room.  Custom cabinetry is often a much better choice than multiple freestanding cabinets, which are rarely the right size and can clutter a space - built-in cabinetry can look more considered and resolved.

DESIGNER SPECIFIED & ONE OF A KIND

The attention to detail of your interior designer will ensure they’re thinking about all the details of your custom piece - choosing fabrics that work with your lifestyle and amplify the scheme in your home, thinking about things like powder coat or stain colours, the gloss level of any lacquer - all considerations are taken into account to create a beautiful bespoke piece that is unique to you and your home.

SUPPORTING NZ BUSINESSES

Featuring New Zealand designed and made pieces is a big part of our ethos at KFD Interiors.  And supporting our New Zealand makers has never been more important.  Our flirtation with cheaper, disposable fashion and furnishings has waned - especially as shipping costs and delays continue to impact supply chains.  Increasingly we are finding that our clients are just as passionate as we are about New Zealand brands who design for our unique antipodean lifestyle, with locally sourced materials and proudly make their pieces here in New Zealand.
