rural resort

rural resort

With a vista across the rolling rural countryside, this home is as peaceful as it is impressive. This new-build home was designed to capture the relaxed, playful, and exotic vibe of a holiday resort for this family of four and their pets, a haven for the family in their busy lives.

Located on a clifftop on Auckland’s North Shore, this large modern family home was designed by Studio John Irving. Kirsten Ford Design was engaged to assist with the interior finishes selections to complement the bold architectural design and the furniture and furnishings to make this a home.

A much-loved family bungalow was treated to a fresh lease of life with new a kitchen, as well as a refresh of their furniture and furnishings. Kirsten Ford Design worked with these clients to guide the kitchen finish selections and to update their furnishings, being careful to include much-loved family treasures and adding to them special new pieces.

relaxed luxe

relaxed luxe

Building a new home to our own design was a chance to create a home that not only practically suited the needs of our busy family, but was also stylish and stood apart. After spying a tranquil, Pohutukawa-fringed piece of land in otherwise built-up suburbia, we set to work to make it our own.

When these clients brought their beachfront home it came with sublime views, but a kitchen that definitely needed an update. The blue-tiled benchtop may have featured on the cover of Trends magazine back in the 1990s, but when a major renovation was undertaken to update and reconfigure the home the kitchen received attention first!

staying true

staying true

When this couple considered moving from their family home they built over 15 years, their children responded with a resounding no! So instead they decided to create a new living area and completely remodel their kitchen - and of course, stay in the slice of rural paradise they call their own.

This forever home was built to perfectly fit the lifestyle of this busy, close-knit family. A modern yet timeless new build that’s easily connected with the outdoors - and perfect for both pool parties and smooth-running family life.

With sightlines over a tree-filled park, to the ocean and horizon beyond, this apartment lives and breathes it’s surroundings. The near new apartment had an inherited scheme from the developer so Kirsten Ford Design was engaged to create a more personalised home, with a sophisticated coastal feel that avoided all the usual seaside stereotypes.

Turning a new house into a home was the brief from these clients. Their challenge to us was to create a more contemporary styled home for them, by pairing their amazing collection of antiques and artworks with key new pieces of furniture and furnishings. The clients wanted to ensure their newly built home was a better reflection of their lifestyle and personalities.

With clients who are fun and passionate with big vision, this was always going to be a special project. When we first visited in January 2018, while the location was stunning, the bach was very tired and a little pink! These clients dreamed of creating a functional yet luxurious destination for family holidays where memories are created every day.

light & bright

light & bright

This busy family had outgrown their 20 year old kitchen - they needed more space, more storage and a modern look that would still stand the test of time. White cabinetry is trimmed with timber accents, with azure blue tiles providing an unexpected hit of mediterranean inspired colour. The kitchen is the perfect blend of style and function - light, bright and completely unique.

ocean edge apartment

ocean edge apartment

Situated right on the ocean’s edge, this couple wanted to create a comfortable retreat with a relaxed but luxe feel. The newly built apartment had an inherited scheme from the developer.  Our clients engaged Kirsten Ford Design to create a look and feel for their holiday home which was more personal, incorporating much loved pieces of art while ensuring focus still remained on the incredible view beyond.

living room layers

We wanted to show you a little peek behind the scenes of how we created this ocean edge living room. Like every project, this space was created in layers. Layering adds warmth and interest to a space - and is a key way of stamping personality on a room, ensuring it tells the story of you.

timeless elegance

timeless elegance

This family undertook a significant rebuild to transform a tired 1920's bungalow into a stylish, forever family home.  They dreamt of an effortlessly elegant home, one that would stand the test of time and be highly liveable and welcoming for their children, their many friends and the extended family who often stay.

grand old lady

grand old lady

This client took on a labour of love when she purchased this grand old lady. The 1890's villa had weathered over time, and while some period features were still beautifully preserved, a major renovation was definitely in order.  The home is now the perfect blend of heritage details and modern, fresh finishes.
