Palm Springs . . . you were amazing at every turn! Two hours from Los Angeles, it’s been a favourite getaway for celebrities since the early 1900s. And after visiting in November last year, I can see why - it really is the perfect desert oasis and Rat Pack retreat: colourful, hot, fun and an intoxicating combination of laid back cool and full on glamour.
I will be winging my way to Milan to attend the prestigious Salone Internazionale del Mobile design show at the beginning of April. One of my suppliers, Schneider Electric, ran a competition for architects and designers who had recently completed a project using their product. With one winner from each of seven countries, I'm absolutely thrilled to have been selected by the international judging panel.
This busy family had outgrown their 20 year old kitchen - they needed more space, more storage and a modern look that would still stand the test of time. White cabinetry is trimmed with timber accents, with azure blue tiles providing an unexpected hit of mediterranean inspired colour. Our clients engaged Kirsten Ford Design to create a look and feel for their holiday home which was more personal, incorporating much loved pieces of art while ensuring focus still remained on the incredible view beyond.
This family undertook a significant rebuild to transform a tired 1920's bungalow into a stylish, forever family home. They dreamt of an effortlessly elegant home, one that would stand the test of time and be highly liveable and welcoming for their children, their many friends and the extended family who often stay.
This client took on a labour of love when she purchased this grand old lady. The 1890's villa had weathered over time, and while some period features were still beautifully preserved, a major renovation was definitely in order. The home is now the perfect blend of heritage details and modern, fresh finishes.
This home is almost totally unrecognisable from the cobweb-clad beachside bach it was when our client first purchased it. The client was downsizing in scale, but didn’t want to compromise on style. Kirsten Ford Design completely reimagined the space to create a home as a true reflection of its owner: modern, stylish, well travelled.
